Logo sketches
150 or so thumbnail sketches is what I ended up doing. And out of those I did 18 more detailed renderings with markers and pen.
My sketches focus heavily on my illustration skills, and my love of tenticles and creepy imagery. Putting those elements together in clever way was more fun than challenging.
Vector Logos

From my sketches I produced these initial vector logos to choose from. Based on the designs 3 were chosen for consideration as the final logo. Some of the other logos are being used for promotional purposes.
Vector Logos (color treatment)
There was a real toss-up between the two left logos, and the bottom right logo. The logotype is what made the biggest  difference in the decision of what  logo to use.
Vector Logos (Final 3) "MPC Cube"
This was my first choice, but based on the fact that people already have a hard time pronouncing my name, using a jumbled logotype didn't seem to help establish my brand.
"MPC Metal & Octopus"
The second choice was based on my instructors vote, but when I began placing it on a black background I ran into some issues that made me decide to not use it.
"MPC Taking Over The World"
Settled on this logo, logotype, and color scheme. The way the symbol and logotype can be used stacked or side-by-side, make them prime to be used for different purposes. The colors worked really well with many different background hues.
Producing My Brand

Now that my logo has been chosen it's time to apply it: business cards, resume, letterheads, stationary, send aheads, and other promotional materials. All of the design, even my portfolio needs to share the same treatment.
The identity package I'm still working on, but as for now the results are pleasing to me. I've chosen to use an octopus dancing in his own ink as a personal mascot. My slogan, "Designing your dreams or nightmares," lets you know what my comfort level is while also describing my virsatility.
